A STORY HAS DONE IT’S JOB WHEN IT CHANGES HOW SOMEONE FEELS.

Before people trust us, support us, or remember us, they have to care. And people don’t care because they were presented with information. They care because they felt something. That’s true whether we’re telling the story of a person, a brand, or an idea. These videos are simply the thoughts, and beliefs that have shaped how I think about people, stories, and the work I love to do.

An Outsiders Perspective

The people closest to a story are often the ones least able to see it. Sometimes the most valuable perspective comes from someone standing outside of it, asking different questions and noticing what everyone else has stopped seeing.

Too Smart For Your Own Good

The more we know, the easier it becomes to forget what it’s like not to. Expertise is valuable, but it can also become a blind spot. Great communicators don’t just share what they know, they remember what it’s like to be hearing it for the first time.

The Best Story You’ll Never Hear

The best stories are rarely waiting at the end of a prepared question. They’re found in the pause before someone says, “I’ve never told anyone this before,” or, “That reminds me of something…” Great interviews aren’t about knowing what to ask next, they’re about knowing when to stop talking and listen.

Death By A Thousand Decisions

Every project is made up of hundreds of decisions, some big, most surprisingly small. Left unchecked, they become distractions that pull us away from what matters most. The right creative partner doesn’t add work to the process, they quietly remove it.

The Job I Thought I Had

For years, I believed my job was making great videos. It took me a long time to realize that some of the most valuable work happens long before production begins, helping shape ideas, ask better questions, and make the creative process a little easier.

The Dog And Pony Show

More isn’t always better. Bigger crews, more gear, and larger budgets don’t automatically create better stories. Sometimes the most valuable thing a producer can say is, “We don’t need that.” Knowing what to leave out is every bit as important as knowing what to include.

Terrible Advice?

Not everything deserves perfection. Knowing where to invest our time, energy, and attention is what separates good judgment from endless pursuit. Sometimes the best thing we can do for a project isn’t making it perfect, it’s knowing when it’s already doing exactly what it was meant to do.

Good stories change how people feel. Great collaborators change how people think.
